Renowned Glassblower to Host 2nd Annual Glass Pumpkin Festival
(Laurelville) – After 25 years at the Circleville Pumpkin Show, Jack Pine created the Glass Pumpkin Festival in 2020 to help guests, artists and vendors displaced by the cancellation of last year’s Pumpkin Show. Jack Pine Studio has announced that its 2nd annual Glass Pumpkin Festival returns from Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Jack Pine will soon unveil the collectible Pumpkin of the Year 2021, which is a stark contrast to last year’s design. Crafted from luminous white glass with shimmering silver strands, these festive pumpkin sculptures are illuminated by a confetti of color. This year’s pumpkin inspires joy and celebrates the resilience demonstrated over the past two years. Details are available at JackPineStudio.com.
Additionally, Jack Pine and his team of artists want to support New Orleans artists and culture carriers who have been so dramatically affected by the recent devastation of Hurricane Ida. As a result, Pine will donate 10 percent of all pumpkin sales for the year to the Feed the Second Line charity in New Orleans. Feed the Second Line enables donors to provide food, shelter and more directly to our national treasure trove of artists and musicians from New Orleans’ rich culture, particularly its Mardi Gras and Second Line artists and traditions.
“We had such a wonderful turnout last year, we wanted to continue and build on this fun and artistic experience,” said glass artist Jack Pine. “Hundreds and hundreds of unique mouth-blown glass pumpkins in all colors and sizes are spread across the field in our outdoor studio to celebrate the art and colors of the season by allowing fans and guests to support the creatives, both in our own community and those currently struggling in New Orleans.
Pine added that he designed this year’s Pumpkin of the Year to truly reflect the joy of Mardi Gras creativity and supporting others.
As part of community-wide efforts to slow the transmission of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of visitors, performers and staff, advance parking reservations are required and only 75 guests will be admitted for each two-hour time slot. Guests can reserve their $ 5 parking spot prior to the show and will receive $ 5 toward the purchase of any Jack Pine pumpkin. Additional unreserved parking, first come, first served, will be available for $ 5.
With several acres of land serving as Jack Pine’s outdoor studio, as well as a bustling indoor gallery and live demo studio, there’s plenty of space for people to socially entertain as they browse and watch the blaze of colors and flames as gifted glassblowers transform into molten masses to dazzling works of art. An Artists’ Market featuring nine fine Ohio artisans will feature everything from beautiful sandstone birdhouses, pottery, metal sculpture, stained glass lanterns and miniature glass pieces on display and for sale in the vast grounds. from the studio. Jack Pine grew up in southern Ohio, studied at Columbus College of Art and Design, and then honed his skills in Seattle’s famous glass houses. Drawn to nature and inspired by its organic forms, he returned to his Ohio roots to hone his craft in the woods of the Hocking Hills of southeast Ohio.
