With everything from tapestries to mantelpieces, art, jewelery and a Rolex Oyster watch, the three-day Chatsworth Summer Art Sale by Fonsie Mealy next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday has attracted collectables from estates all over Ireland such as Strokestown House, Co Wexford, Cahir Park House, Co Tipperary, Newcastle McAteer Estate, Co Down, Celbridge Lodge, Co Kildare and many other properties.

The most expensive lots of furniture are 18th century overmantels and gilded wooden mirrors in the range of €7,000 to €15,000.

Other top lots include a fine pair of carved giltwood consoles in the William Kent style (€4,000-6,000), a center table in giltwood and gesso (€3,000-€5,000) and a pair of covers. – Coalbrookdale Victorian Gothic radiators adorned with high Siena marble (€3,000-€4,000).

An Antwerp tapestry circa 1720 by Jacob Van Der Goten (€8,000-12,000), an 18th century Flemish tapestry (€5,000-€7,000) and magnificent fireplace pieces will attract attention for their rarity at this direct and online sales. Like a fireplace inlaid with white marble Pietro Bossi style (€5,500-7,500), a Portman fireplace in sculpted white marble (€3,500-5,500) and an old Irish Kilkenny fireplace in black marble (€3,800-5,000 ) are not found every day.

There is fine furniture, antique collectibles, silver, ceramics, art, miniatures, clocks, taxidermy, jewelry, rugs and light fixtures in this treasure trove of a sale. Visits to Castlecomer continue today, tomorrow and Monday and sales will take place at 10.30am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Through something completely different, the Outstanding Irish Art and Sculpture auction which runs until June 14 at de Veres features important works by Roderic O’Conor and Jack B Yeats alongside artists from David Godbold, Tony O’Malley and Norah McGuinness to contemporary artists. from artists like Hughie O’Donoghue and Elizabeth Magill to sculptures by Sandra Bell, Patrick O’Reilly and FE McWilliam.

A Lament (The Funeral of Harry Boland) by Yeats is, between €250,000 and €350,000, the most expensive work estimated, followed closely by The breaking wave by Roderic O’Conor (€200,000 – €300,000). There are estimates from €500 in this auction of 126 lots including more than 50 works of sculpture. It all adds up to a quality auction with something for everyone.

The catalog is online and the sale is now open to auction.
