Janine Burrows: From table to tide, a conversation from Yorkshire
Janine Burrows’ solo exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (June 11-October 23) pays homage to the landscapes of her native county. Working in a mix of mediums, the West Yorkshire-born artist captures everything from her garden to the North Yorkshire coast, from her neighborhood gardens to the grounds of the sculpture park. Works such as Skyline of Whitby display an expressive brushstroke, revealing Burrows’ experience in printed textiles, while Birds at the lake shows the artist’s penchant for delicate marking. Besides landscape paintings, the exhibition includes still lifes such as A Beer, Cookies and A bouquet of daffodils, which depict intimate moments of tranquility within the artist’s home.
