Beautiful sculptures arrive in Teddington
An array of beautiful sculptures will be coming to Teddington in the New Year courtesy of the Surrey Sculpture Society.
The group announced that their Sculpture Showcase will return to Landmark Arts Center in Teddington in February with acclaimed sculptor Kate Viner, commissioned for various public art projects during her career, revealed as the event’s signature artist.
As well as offering insight into his work and career, Viner and his work will also be joined by those of other sculptors who will soon be declared winners and finalists of the Surrey Sculpture Society Prize for New and Emerging Artists 2022.
A host of 2D and 3D visual art complements an art exhibit offering a plentiful supply of goodies from some of the best artists working in the area today.
“We are delighted to be back at this beautiful Teddington site in 2022 after seeing last year’s plans thwarted by the lockdown,” said Caroline Wheaton, the SSS exhibition manager for the event.
“As usual, our sculpture exhibition will feature not only fantastic sculptures and 2D work by our talented artists, but also live sculpture demonstrations throughout the event. As tradition dictates, we also hope inspiring the next generation of artists by welcoming local school children to the event. We look forward to seeing as many visitors as possible for this first exhibition of the year, “she added.
Abigail Thomas, Curator of Visual Arts at the Landmark Art Center, also expressed her joy for the upcoming exhibition.
“The Landmark is delighted to welcome and welcome back the Surrey Sculpture Society by exhibiting with us and launching the 2022 Visual Arts Program. Our local community will be delighted to see another high quality performance from the members of the society. As always, our Grade II listed building is a great backdrop for any sculpture, large or small, and we can’t wait to see what will be on display. ”
