America’s most expensive house goes up for auction
It claims to be the largest private residence in the world, and one of the most expensive too, and for the first time it is for sale: The One, located in the tony neighborhood of Los Angeles in Bel Air, is a building of 105,000 squares. a domain set to go up for auction on Jan. 7 for a staggering $ 295 million. Superstar agents Aaron Kirman of the Aaron Kirman group at Compass and Branden and Rayni Williams of Williams & Williams at the Beverly Hills Estates collaborate on the list, with Concierge Auctions, the management entity behind the auction. The auctions are scheduled to take place on the Concierge Auctions online platform from February 7 to 10.
If the property is sold at the asking price, it will be the most expensive house sold in the country and the largest online purchase ever. However, the house was once valued at $ 500 million, so the current asking price seems like a steal by comparison.
The One was built by developer Nile Niami of Crestlloyd LLC over the past 10 years, according to Kirman, and was only recently completed; it has never been inhabited and was placed under Chapter 11 protection in October.
The description of The One reads like a gripping book full of juicy detail. Situated on 3.8 acres, its elevated position allows for 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean, downtown Los Angeles, and the San Gabriel Mountains. “He sits on the best promontory in one of the most expensive cities in the world at the top of the sky,” says Kirman. “It offers the best views in town.” The main house is moated on three sides and spans 105,000 square feet. The master bedroom alone measures 5,500 square feet and has a patio with pool and hot tub that overlooks the city.
There is also the gargantuan nightclub; a bloated beauty salon; a spa with several treatment rooms and two saunas; a 10,000 square foot sky deck; a 400-foot outdoor running track with a glass-fronted view of the city; and a Dolby Digital cinema with more than 40 seats. Then there is the four-lane bowling alley; a putting green, a state-of-the-art gym with Technogym equipment and a 64-foot indoor pool, juice bar; a tennis court; a wine cellar of 10,000 bottles; and a garage for over 30 cars with two car display panels.
How about the two-story library with a balcony and fountains on three glass walls? And we didn’t reach the large three-sided infinity pool and huge deck; the courtyard, with palm trees 30 feet high; ten bars, inside and outside; a cigar room; then a three-bedroom guesthouse with floor-to-ceiling windows, an Oto Murano chandelier by Vistosi and wooden floors. “The One is a mega-mansion which is truly an architectural triumph,” says Kirman. “The new buyer will have the chance to live in the most trophy property money can buy.”
But wait, there’s also site-specific art that’s included in the hefty price tag. We hear pieces such as an abstract sculpture in the main foyer by contemporary artist Mike Fields, a butterfly installation by Stephanie Fields, and a glass sculpture by Italian artist Simone Cenedese.
